Hinduism Case Study: Indonesia

The goal of this lesson is for students to understand how Hinduism influenced areas outside of India, and how elements of Hindu mythology and literature are present within a culture outside of India. Indonesia is the chosen focus country, and students will learn more about Hindu influence upon Indonesian culture, as well as complete a project that helps them learn about the Hindu pantheon and Hindu mythology. World History Grade 9 / Unit: World Religions.

Indonesian Culture Through the Senses

This lesson will introduce students to where Indonesia is located on a map, understand culture from their community perspective, and understand that communities from Indonesia have similarities and differences from their own. This lesson activity also includes two puppet scripts with links and instructions for making Wayang Kulit (shadow puppets) and Wayang Golek (rod puppets).
